What is the Pokemon TCG?

The Pokémon Trading Card Game (Pokémon TCG) is a collectible card game based on the Pokémon video game series. The game is centered on the concept of the Pokémon battle. All Pokémon have attacks and hit points (HP); by doing damage to the opponent’s Pokémon equal to its hit points, or greater than its hit points, the player can “knock out” the opponent’s Pokémon.

Pokémon Organized Play (POP) is an international organization that promotes good sportsmanship and enjoyment of the Pokémon Trading Card Game through competitive and casual play. Leagues and Prerelease events support a casual and fun gaming environment while preparing players for the challenges of our more competitive tournament series.

That series of City Championships, State Championships, Regional Championships, National Championships, and Battle Road events are meant to provide players opportunities to earn great prizes and hone their Pokémon TCG playing skills en route to the pinnacle event of the year, the Pokémon TCG World Championships.

Pokémon Organized Play is supported by The Pokémon Company International, a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company.

Pokemon TCG League Play at the Austin Lair

Pokemon League Play A Pokémon League provides a nearby place for you to get together with other fans of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and have some fun. Using your own cards you can play, trade, and even earn cool prizes! The best part is that you can do all this with other Pokémon players who love collecting and playing just as much as you do.

Even if you don’t know all the rules of the game, at a league you can learn game basics and, in no time, perfect your strategy! Joining a league is the best way to hone your skills to compete in Pokémon tournaments from Battle Roads all the way up to the World Championships.

Best of all, Pokemon League is free!

Weekly League Play

Every Sunday at 2 PM, we have weekly league play!

Just come, sign up with our staff! Kids (and adults) can play for league points and prizes – it’s a lot of fun and great game for the whole family to get into!

Pokemon Tournaments

The last Sunday of every month at 12PM!

Pokémon tournaments take place at stores worldwide, and offer a competitive atmosphere where trainers can meet each other in a friendly match. Players bring their own 60-card deck and compete to establish player ratings and rankings. Ratings and rankings are achieved based on individual match wins and losses in sanctioned Pokémon tournament play. At yhe Austin Lair, monthly tournaments cost $5, which goes to providing a booster pack for every player and prizes for the winners!
