Event Information

Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin now opens at 10AM on Sundays!

POKEMON BLACK & WHITEl: EMERGING POWERS LOGO by Pokemon.com Black & White: Emerging Powers is almost here.

But you can get it early at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin.

On Sunday, August 28, 2011, the Austin Lair will be hosting two Pre-Release tournaments! If you can’t make it early or you can’t stay late, there’s still a chance for you to be among the first in Austin to snag the latest cards – including the first appearances of the Legendary Trio of Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion!

There is no pre-registration for these events!

Event I

WHEN: Sunday August 28 at 10 AM
WHERE: Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin
WHAT: Black & White: Emerging Powers Pre-release Event
FORMAT: Sealed Deck

• • All participants will recieve 6 Emerging Powers boosters to make a 40 card deck. Energy cards will be provided by the Tournament Organizer.

COST: $25
PRIZE SUPPORT:

• Special Item (to be announced)
• Special Promo Card (to be announced)
• Two extra Emerging Powers boosters at the end of the tournament

Event II

WHEN: Sunday August 28 at 2 PM
WHERE: Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin
WHAT: Black & White: Emerging Powers Pre-release Event
FORMAT: Sealed Deck

Tournament Format

FORMAT: Sealed Deck. (Click here for more on Tournament Rules)

Sealed Deck: In a sealed event, players are provided with booster packs by the Tournament Organizer. At a signal from the Tournament Organizer, players open their booster packs and build a 40-card deck with energy cards provided by the Tournament Organizer. The players compete in a swiss-round tournament, with the number of rounds determined by the number of players.

• Players may not trade cards from their booster packs until after the event.
• Only cards from the new Black & White: Emerging Powers set.
• The tournament organizer may require players to fill out deck lists, including cards being used and cards not being used.
• The cards you get to play the tournament are yours to keep!

Matches are played for 4 prize cards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a member of the Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin Pokemon League to play in this event?

No. Anyone who wants to play in this competition can, as long as they have a legal 60-card deck! Though, any
participants new to Pokemon Organized Play will be asked to register with Pokemon Organized Play.

Registration with Pokemon Organized Play does not automatically register you with the Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin Pokemon League

I want to come, but I’ll be late. What do I do?

Late entries are up to the discretion of the Tournament Organizer and will be handled on a case by base basis.

What is a pre-release event?

The Pokemon TCG website has a information on all their sets. New card sets with new pokemon, evolution chains and new cards are released. A pre-release event is a special tournament where the new cards are sold to players early, giving them a sneak peak at the new cards and a chance to get them before everyone else!
