September is Teams Month at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin!
We have two special events this month!
Warhammer 40K Team Tournament
WHEN: Saturday September 4, 2010
- Registration: 10:00 AM
- Dice Roll: 11:00 AM
COST: Free
FORMAT:
- Two-player teams. Choose your own teammate.
- 1500 pts per player. Each player must use a different codex.
- Each 1500 point army must have it’s own Force Organization Chart.
Warhammer Fantasy Team Tournament
WHEN: Saturday September 18, 2010.
- Registration: 10:00 AM
- Dice Roll: 11:00 AM
COST: Free
FORMAT:
- Two-player teams. Choose your own teammate.
- 1500 pts per player. Each player must use a different Army Book.
- Each 1500 point army must have it’s own Force Organization Chart.
- Each army plays independently; no shared magic, power dice or leadership.
Organized Play Overview
Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin is proud to host plenty of Games Workshop events! Not only do we have an entire gaming wall dedicated to Games Workshop miniatures, books and accessories, but we have two dedicated gaming areas with tables and tabletops specifically measured, designed and built for Games Workshop play!
We offer rotating monthly events, casual play nights and tournaments, but we also offer varying organized play leagues run by store staff.
Check out some of the events and leagues we have running now, but be sure to check back to this page often, because it will be updated as often as our Events & Calendar permit!
Warhammer Fantasy
The world of Warhammer is a land sundered by bitter strife and deadly conflict.
Warhammer on Games Workshop
Every realm and kingdom is riven by war and destruction, a battleground for mighty armies that advance to the beat of sonorous war-drums and the braying call of trumpets.
Warhammer, The game of Fantasy Battles, allows you to wage war with armies of Citadel miniatures across tabletop battlefields in the ultimate contest of strategy and skill. Each player is a general, who must choose his finest warriors, decide upon cunning battle plans and strategies and lead his followers to victory or death. Games can vary in size from small skirmishes of just a few dozen models per side, to massive clashes with literally hundreds of miniatures.
Warhammer Events
- Third Saturday – The third Saturday of every month is our Warhammer Fantasy Tournament (2250 pts)
- Escalation League – Our Warhammer Fantasy Escalation League will start on July 26, 2010! Email events@dlair.net for more information!

Warhammer 40K
The 41st Millennium is a savage future age where Mankind must battle for survival in a galaxy riven by bloodshed and destruction.
Warhammer 40K on Games Workshop
Humanity teeters on the brink of extinction, assailed on all sides by aliens, traitors and Daemons, and only the superhuman strength of the Space Marines and the uncountable numbers of the Imperial Guard stand between the slavering alien hordes and total annihilation.
Warhammer 40,000, the tabletop battlegame of the far future, allows you to wage war with armies of Citadel miniatures across miniature battlefields in the ultimate contest of strategy and skill. Warhammer 40K Events
- Monday Night Casual Play – 7 PM Monday nights is Warhammer 40K casual play
- Tuesday Night Casual Play- 7 Pm Tuesday nights is Warhammer 40 K casual play
- Kids’ Warhammer 40K – The 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month is Kids’ Warhammer 40K! These events are geared to teach kids to play and give younger players a safe, comfortable enviornment to learn the game!
- Warhammer 40K Escalation League – Starting July 19, 2010, Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin is running a Warhammer 40K Escalation League! Email events@dlair.net for more information!

Blood Bowl
Blood Bowl is a game of fantasy football – Warhammer style!
Blood Bowl on Games Workshop
Blood Bowl is board game that is one of the Specialist Games that Games Workshop has published along time ago. All the Teams, Models and the box set are special order now from GW but the rule book is free to download on the GW website. The game itself it a kind of an alternate setting for Warhamer Fantasy where instead of
battles they play Blood Bowl but they have all the familiar races have teams. Orcs, Elves, even Humans use skill and sharp implements to win games. Become a Blood Bowl Coach and lead your team to victory! Throughout the Old World and beyond, teams of fearless warriors – known as Blood Bowl players – face each other on
ritualized battlefields known as pitches.
Blood Bowl is new here at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin and is played at 7:30 PM on Wednesday nights! A new league is starting late in September!
