Monsterpocalypse Series 5: Big in Japan
Privateer Press has announced that Monsterpocalypse: Big in Japan, the next expansion for its kaiju collectible miniatures game, will be released in April in Monster Boosters and Unit Boosters. It will include new iconic buildings from the Tokyo skyline.
Privateer is running two free with promotions to support the release. A limited edition Mega Mechathugrosh figure will be given free by participating retailers with purchases of one Big in Japan Mega Kit, which includes a case of Monster Boosters, a case of Unit Boosters, and a Mega Mechathugrosh figure.

In Brightest Day…
DC Comics has announced The Brightest Day, the follow-up to its highly successful crossover event, Blackest Night. The Brightest Day, which will debut in April, will include a 26-issue bi-weekly flagship series written by Geoff Johns and Peter Tomasi with art by Fernando Passerin. David Finch, who recently signed on exclusively with DC, will provide covers for the The Brightest Day series.
But like Blackest Night, Brightest Day will not be limited to one comic title. It is an event that will spread its influence across a good portion of the DC Universe. DC has revealed on it’s The Source blog that not only will Johns’ Flash be included in The Brightest Day event, but that Titans will fall directly under Brightest Day, with Eric Wallace and Fabrizio Fiorentino coming on board starting with the Titans: Villains for Hire Special. Wallace and Fiorentino will assemble a new team of Titans that will include Tattooed Man and Cheshire operating under the leadership of Deathstroke the Terminator.
Bluewater Announces ‘Fame’ Comics!
Bluewater Productions has announced Fame, a new ongoing comic series that will focus on culturally relevant celebrities and other pop culture icons. A preview issue featuring Lady GaGa will be released in time for Free Comic Book Day. Other celebrities up for the Fame bio treatment include Robert Pattinson, 50 Cent, David Beckham, and Taylor Swift.
Fame builds on Bluewater’s comic biographies of political figures, authors, and other celebrities. The company publishes ongoing bio series Political Power, Female Force, and produced a Michael Jackson: King of Pop one-shot in 2009.
Changes Coming to Living Card Games!
Since its introduction well over a year ago, the LCG (Living Card Game) format has been immensely successful for FFG. Because of this popularity, FFG has been examining closely how to enhance this already strong product. As such, we have found a way to implement a suggested improvement to monthly LCG expansion packs.
We’re proud to announce that we will be enhancing our monthly packs by adopting a format that LCG customers have been requesting. Once this change is fully implemented, your monthly packs will include 60 cards made up of three copies each of 20 unique cards, and will retail for only $14.95!
This means that with one convenient purchase, you will be able to acquire three copies of each new card… at less than half the current cost.
DC Heroclix: The Brave & the Bold
NECA, which acquired WizKids in September, is planning to ship its first DC HeroClix product, The Brave and the Bold, in February of 2010. The expansion will add 55 superhero and supervillain characters to the game including 25 characters who have never appeared in the DC HeroClix CMG releases before.
The new series features some of the most exciting and dynamic figure sculpts ever produced for the HeroClix line. Some of the most famous DC Comics team-ups such as Flash/Green Lantern and Lex Luthor/Brainiac will be included in The Brave and the Bold expansion as well as new ?Alter Ego? figures that allow players to begin the game with a superhero in disguise and then change into superhero garb when danger threatens.
NECA is making The Brave and the Bold available in a ClixBrick that includes 10 booster packs shrink-wrapped together along with a mail-away form for an exclusive Batman/Catwoman Buy-It-By-the-Brick figure, which will have individual collector numbering and will be limited to 5,000 pieces.
Marvel $1 Comics
Marvel Comics has announced the launch of Marvel’s Greatest Comics a new imprint featuring the first issues of Marvel Collected editions for $1.00 starting in March of 2010.
The first title, Invincible Iron Man #1 will be released free to celebrate the new imprint!

Bruce Wayne Returns
Characters, especially long-running franchises, rarely stay dead in comics so it’s no surprise that Bruce Wayne will be returning as the secret identity of Batman in Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne, a six-issue miniseries launching in April. DC revealed the new series on its blog, and writer Grant Morrison promoted it with an interview with USA Today on Wednesday.
Design sketches by Andy Kubert are included in the DC blog post; Morrison told USA Today that a different artist will pencil each issue, with Chris Sprouse handling art on the first issue and Frazer Irving likely to do the second issue.
According to Morrison in the interview, ‘the status quo of the Batman universe will be changed forever after this book:’
