Kill Dr. Lucky

Kill Dr. LuckyPaizo Games has issued a re-print of Kill Dr Lucky! This game is now in stock at Dragon’s Lair Austin!

The Origins Award–winning board game from Cheapass Games comes to your gaming table in a new full-color, high-quality deluxe edition featuring components on par with the best European board games.

Kill Doctor Lucky pits 3 to 7 players against each other in a race to see who can kill Doctor Lucky. The trick is that all the other players want to do it first and will stop at nothing to prevent you from having the pleasure. And the old doctor has earned his nickname well: he’s got more lives than Rasputin and an uncanny knack for dodging your best traps. But his luck can’t last forever. Before the game is over, someone is going to kill Doctor Lucky—wouldn’t you rather it were you?

Everyone starts in the Drawing Room, and everyone wants to kill Doctor Lucky. Players move around the mansion looking for weapons and trying to catch the old man alone. Trying to kill the Doctor is pretty easy, but every other player can play Failure cards to stop you. Doctor Lucky’s luck runs out eventually, though, and you just hope you can catch him when it does.

This new edition now includes the “…And His Little Dog Too!” expansion—three rules variants that feature Doctor Lucky’s dog, Shamrock. He’s just as lucky as his master and has an annoying habit of making you feel fond of him.

  • Kill Doctor Lucky includes: a full-color game board

  • a deck of 96 full-color cards

  • full-color rule book

  • 30 spite tokens

  • pawns and stands for seven players, Doctor Lucky, and his dog

Firestorm Armada by Spartan Games

Firestorm Armada BannerDo you like epic space battles? Do you love the idea of massive starships sailing the cosmos, blasting each other to pieces with fantastic weapons we can barely imagine?

Do you love strategy and tactics and creatively making your opponent wonder about your sanity as you reduce them to confused stares as you win?

Do you love miniatures and painting and awesome models with fantastic sculpts and classic sci-fi ships?

If you answered ‘yes’ to even one of these questions – then I have one more for you. Why aren’t you playing Firestorm Armada?

Spartan Games brought us Uncharted Seas last year, and we knew it was awesome. Pirates and naval commanders and everything awesome about high seas combat. And now, they have given us everything epic about space combat.

Their initial fleet offering gives us the invading forces of the Dindrenzi, an aggressive empire of humans whose fleets have invaded the planetary systems of their human cousins, the Terrans. Fortunately for the Terrans, they are able to call on the support of their allies, the Aquans and the Sorylian. The borders of their empires converge in a stellar region known as Fathoms Reach which bears the brunt of the Dindrenzi invasion.

This group of defending planets is collectively known as the Alliance of Kurak, and the primary focus of the initial assault by the Dindrenzi takes place in and around the planetary systems of Fathoms Reach. This is known by military forces in a more evocative way: The Storm Zone.

Their intention is to add more ship designs to the starter fleets to give them more breadth and flexibility, and create new fleets in the future. We will widen the scope of Firestorm Armada over time and develop an ongoing campaign environment for games set within the The Storm Zone.

They have several initial fleets on offer:

Terran Empire

The commanders of the Navy of the Terran Satellite Charter are dedicated to the protection of the systems within Fathoms Reach against the invading Dindrenzi forces. They have their best Terran warships deployed at the front as part of the Terran Storm Fleet, with the assistance of the Terran Allied Fleet, which includes battlegroups of Sorylian and Aquan warships.

Dindrenzi Federation

Relatively fledgling as a race the Dindrenzi Federation is aggressive and intolerant of others – especially the Terran Empire. A race based around a military bedrock, the Dindrenzi has waged this war with only one thing in mind: annihilation of Terra and its allies.

Sorylian Collective

This race has suffered badly in the initial stages of the Dindrenzi War, largely due to poor initial deployment and by being caught out by the sheer speed with which the Dindrenzi Fleets have advanced. They have always dispersed their fleets to respond to any crisis within the Collective, whether it is caused by Terran colonists, Raiders or the Dindrenzi.

Aquan Prime
The Aquans are fully committed to fight the threat of the Dindrenzi for as long as it takes, and if necessary even invade Dindrenzi space in order to reduce or destroy their support bases. They have full confidence in the Kurak Alliance and have left their more distant territories stripped of defenses and logistics.

They have a downloads page with all kinds of good information to help you evaluate Firestorm Armada – check it out!
