Free Comic Book Day 2017 May 6th!

Free Comic Book Day 2017 is almost here! On Saturday, May 6th, Dragon’s Lair San Antonio will be celebrating the medium of comics by giving you TOTALLY FREE COMICS! Plus, we’ll have five guest artists making a special appearance in the store!

About Free Comic Book Day 2017

Free Comic Book Day happens every year on the first Saturday in May. It’s a chance for readers of all ages to pick up free comics offered by publishers both large and small. Whether you’ve been reading comics all your life, or never picked up one before, you’ll get to choose from dozens of different titles to take home absolutely free!

Our FCBD Policy

We never charge money for Free Comic Book Day comics.  At Dragon’s Lair San Antonio, free means just that: absolutely free.  We’ll have dozens of titles available from publishers both large and small. Each person attending FCBD here at DLSA can get one copy of every title available while supplies last. Some titles may only be suitable for ages 17+, so parents please screen titles for content. (Don’t worry though: the vast majority of titles are all-ages, so younger readers won’t miss out!)

Plus: Special Guest Artists!

We’ll also be hosting appearances by five special guest artists to make Free Comic Book Day even more fun! Come meet these talented folks:

John Picacio: Hugo Award-winning illustrator who has worked on such properties as Star Trek, George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, and his own Loteria series.

Brian Denham: Writer/Artist of his own title Airship Enterprise, plus work for major companies including Marvel Comics.

Rod Espinosa: Creator of the graphic novel series The Courageous Princess, currently published by Dark Horse Books.

Amanda Kirk: Interior Artist for the new Boom! Studios title Coady & The Creepies, plus illustrator for the San Antonio Current.

Alfredo “Freddy” Lopez, Jr.:  illustrator for various card, game, and comic properties including The Walking Dead, Ant-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Don’t Miss It!
