We are honored to host one of our favorite comic writers in store on Saturday June 25th! Greg Pak has written everything from mainstream Marvel and DC comics such as X-Men, Hulk, Batman/Superman and Star Wars to indie creations such as The Princess Who Saved Herself and Kingsway West. He's appeared in our store before, but this visit will be particularly special.
His most recent work, I Belong To You, explores growing up as an Asian American kid in Texas in the 1970s and 1980s and grappling with the sense of not quite belonging while simultaneously feeling totally bound to the environment and flora and fauna of the state. The story's also about Pak's mother, Jane, and how she taught him to observe and participate in the world.
I BELONG TO YOU/MOTHERLAND is exclusively available through Dragon's Lair this summer, and is an autobiographical epic poem that's simultaneously being adapted into an illustrated book and a choral piece that will be performed by Inversion at 7:30 June 25 at the Bates Recital hall.
