Wizards of the Coast will reprint limited premium versions of the original Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks by Gary Gygax to help support the Gygax Memorial Fund. The new editions will be released in limited quantities exclusively for the hobby channel on April 17, 2012. They’ll include the original art and content with new cover designs commemorating the re-release.

The three core books being released are:

• 1st Edition Premium Dungeon Master’s Guide (240p HC $44.95)
• 1st Edition Premium Player’s Handbook (112p HC $34.95)
• 1st Edition Premium Monster Manual (128p HC $34.95)

DC Entertainment has revealed a new logo that will find its way on to the books published by the company’s major brands, DC Comics, Vertigo, and Mad. The new design, which was created by Landor Associates, uses “a peel effect” with the “D” placed over the “C” with the upper right hand portion of the “D” peeled away to reveal the “C” underneath, a visual “reveal” that the company’s press release, with a touch of hyperbole, described as “symbolizing the duality of the iconic characters that are present within DC Entertainment’s portfolio.”

The HeroClix Supremacy League is a casual play format for stores that exists outside of standard Organized Play. Armed with a leaderboard displayed in their Venues, players compete with each other for the center “Top Spot” of the board as they challenge each other for the chance to advance from one ring to the next, making their way from the outside of the board to the inside.

The HeroClix Supremacy League is intended to be a fun format where players can engage in a more casual play style, and is not tied to any specific Organized Play program.

Marvel’s making sure all comic book stores worldwide are armed for the biggest super hero war of all time with the Avengers VS X-Men Launch Parties on Tuesday, April 3 at 8pm (local time), one day before the first issue goes on-sale. In addition to being the first in line to purchase AVENGERS VS X-MEN #1, fans will also be able to receive special items exclusive to these parties, specific to the team—Avengers or X-Men—supported by the store.

But – to get these exclusive items, we have to decide which side we’re on. Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy® Austin has asked our customers to decide. Just vote in our Facebook Poll!

Starting in October, the Austin Lair will be changing a few things about the way we run Magic: the Gathering Constructed events such as Legacy, Modern and Friday Night Magic.

Please take note of these changes!

General Rules Changes

• Please have your DCI number ready when you sign-in to events. If you do not have a DCI number, we will assign you one. If you don’t know your DCI number, we can look it up for you, but please be aware – whenever we have to do that, it slows down registration.

Friday Night Magic

• We will always run 4 rounds.
• Friday Night Magic events will have a maximum capacity of 48 players.
• Friday Night Magic registration will end at 7:15 PM.
• Every player participating in Friday Night Magic will recieve 1 participation booster.
• Official Friday Night Magic promo cards will be given to the top 2 finishers. 2 randomly selected players will be given official Friday Night Magic promo cards as door prizes during the event. The two lowest finishers MAY recieve an alternate, unofficial prize card (while supplies last).
• At the end of the tournament, prize packs will be given out as follows:

Players with 4-0 records will be given three aditional prize boosters.
Players with 3-1 records will be given two additional prize boosters.

Please Note: This prize support system will reain in effect, no matter how many people are registered for the tournament.
